Red Flooded Business Cards

Solid floods of color can be tricky with letterpress. But if you play your no-pun-intended cards right, you can get great results. Lighter/brighter colors tend to print more evenly. And die-cutting the cards rather than knife trimming can help keep the raised unprinted paper from getting squished or scuffed.

For these square cards we printed for Birmingham Developer, Ford Waters, we printed on separate sheets of 300g Fluorescent White Lettra, then duplexed and die cut. Design was done by long-time Parklife friend, Chad Martin of The G Brand.

Just a Dream (About Letterpress)

For designer and event consultant, Ilaria Ceresoli and her business Just a Dream, we printed these super-deluxe foil + letterpress business cards on 100% cotton Somerset paper.

Since Ilaria designed these with foil and a blind deboss on both sides, we printed the front and back on separate sheets of 330g Somerset paper, then duplexed them after printing so that the impressions didn't get flattened.

Our Letterpress Halloween Card = 15% Off Business Orders

Our 2015 Letterpress Halloween Card

Whoa. Check out this hot-off-the-press Halloween card — designed and printed right here at our Portland studio. On the outside it features a medium gray ink and a 50/50 mix of transparent and opaque white on 65# Neenah Astrobrights Cosmic Orange. And on the inside it's the same gray ink plus a custom orange on 90# Pearl White Lettra. All hand duplexed of course.

Oh, and what exactly is going on inside? It's 15% off any business-related custom printing now through the end of November. That could mean business card, holiday cards, letterhead, or maybe some letterpress coasters for your company's New Year's Eve bash.

We mailed these out to a select bunch of loyal customers, but figured the whole world should be clued in too. The whole world reads this blog, right? Probably.

Golden Botanicals Wrapped & Sealed

If you thought the letterpress save the dates we printed for Randi & Ben this spring were cool, I think you're gonna like the follow-up.

This was truly a collaborative project. Randi designed the two-sided invitation and sleeve, and sent the specs off to us.

We printed the front of the invitation on 300g Pearl White paper with midnight ink and gold foil, and the back with gold foil on a separate sheet. Then we duplexed the two sheets by hand, let them dry, and trimmed off the edges. This allowed us to get a two-sided piece with heavy artwork and no impression show-through.

Randi designed the sleeve to double as a direction card. We printed those with midnight ink on a 4" x 15" sheet, then scored, folded, and glued them.

Randi finished off the set on her end with gold string and a custom wax seal. Photos of the completed invitation are below.

Foiled & Monogrammed

We love type-only designs. This one's got a simple monogram in Italic Garamond along with text in Neutra Light and Sloop Script.

We used a custom paper -- two sheets of Dark Gray 350g Colorplan duplexed to create a nice, thick 700g stock. The card was printed with silver foil, finished with silver edge paint, and paired with a pearl white cotton envelope.

Letterpress Business Card Roundup

Time for another business card roundup! After you're done here, you might want to check out previous roundups from 2013, 2014, and just this past January.

Canadian designer and photographer Amanda Benincasa (benincasadesign.com) designed these cards, complete with a letterpress QR code. We printed them with custom green and gray inks on thick 600g Fluorescent White Lettra.

For long-time Parklife collaborator, Chad Martin of The G Brand (see more of his design work here and here), we printed these duplexed business cards with black ink on 300g Lettra for the front and gold ink on 2-ply Rising Museum Board for the back.

Like pretty much everyone (Parklife included), Gritchelle recently relocated to Portland. We printed these cards for our new neighbor on 300g Fluorescent White Lettra.

Some super-deluxe cards for Chapel Hill brand gurus, Immortology: Three inks on 300g Lettra for the front and white foil + a blind deboss on 350g Ebony Colorplan for the back.

Finally, a business card reboot for Dyfari Interiors featuring Espresso and Periwinkle inks with Periwinkle edge paint on 600g Pearl White Lettra. This is the third iteration in a series of cards we've printed for Diane, starting with this version in 2010.
